MyFreeMedicine

MyFreeMedicine.com, LLC was started by Geoff Hasler to help people who do not have prescription insurance (and who are on low incomes) receive their eligible medications for a low service fee. From the time that Hasler first told people about the service, he received an outstanding response. It showed that there is a huge need for this service. Today, to the best of Hasler’s knowledge, they are the largest service of this kind in America. Today, Hasler estimates, they have processed over 130,000 free medication requests saving consumers over $20 million.

Geoff Hasler says that they provide both Brand Name & Generic medications. They access Brand Name drugs via U.S. pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs; and they access Generic Drugs via U.S. discount pharmacy outlets. They do not provide access to foreign drugs, Hasler says. They access almost 2,000 different drugs for their customers.

MyFreeMedicine provides an A-Z value-added service, Hasler says proudly. They do all the work that is necessary, for their customers to get as many medications as possible that they’re eligible for. Unfortunately, Hasler says, some of the paperwork requirements for some medications can be onerous. “That’s where it is especially advantageous to use our program” Hasler says. Their software and knowledgeable staff know all the nuances that are involved in actually getting these particular medications shipped to you, Hasler adds.

Geoff Hasler pauses – “Some well-intentioned people say that “people can do this themselves”. Hasler replies: “While it is true that these programs can be accessed directly by end user customers, it can be a daunting task for many people especially if a patient is on multiple medications manufactured by different drug companies all with varying eligibility criteria.”

“Our niche is a little like filling out your own tax return. You can do it yourself. But most people (especially if there are complexities involved) know that it is best to use a CPA or tax adviser. Usually the cost is worthwhile in terms of the return”, Geoff Hasler adds.

“It’s the same with this”, Hasler emphasizes. “The service fee that we charge is more than worthwhile to insure that you actually receive the medications that you are eligible for.

“We're like H&R Block & other commercial tax preparers. Our specialized software and very hard-working & dedicated staff (some of whom have been doing this for almost five years) usually can access every single medication that you’re eligible for”, Geoff Hasler reiterates, again proudly.

“Some medications cost over $1,000 retail for a six month supply. Our service fee is minor compared to the regular retail cost for many medications”, Hasler said.”As we are not affiliated with any drug manufacturer or any Government, we receive no outside subsidies or financial help”, Geoff Hasler indicates.

“The Federal Government helps the drug companies do this by providing tax credits. In our case, however, the service fee is our only revenue”, Hasler says. Geoff Hasler never tires of making this point. “MyFreeMedicine is a much needed service.

“The Federal Government Medicare Part D initiative so far has been very costly and confusing for many seniors”, says Hasler. If you are eligible for free medication Programs, usually, you are better off to enroll (or stay) in these Programs rather than participate in Medicare Part D.

Under Medicare Part D, seniors:
must pay monthly premiums;
must pay a portion of each medication cost; and
there is a gap in coverage where people must pay the whole 100% cost of all their medications!

Hasler adds: “Many people who have joined Medicare Part D, did not realize how expensive it will be when they signed up. Insurance companies have not always told the full truth about the real, annual cost. Some insurance companies (as part of their corporate model) enroll you and; try to sell you more costly plans later.”

“Millions of Americans still may not receive medications if not for the free medication programs. Right now, about 8-10 million people receive medications via these programs (last year, about 24 million prescriptions were processed) and it is estimated that there are 20-30 million more who are eligible (but who do not know about these programs)”, Geoff Hasler says.

Geoff Hasler wraps up. “Our swelling database of customers is evidence of the need for our service. Our daily job is to insure that the medications that our customers need & rely upon, arrive each 90 days.

“Many people tell us that, if not for us, they would not know what to do and may not be able to afford their life-saving medications” Geoff says.

“Our mission is to inform as many eligible Americans as possible about these programs and to assist them to receive the help that they deserve”, Hasler concludes.
